Peter's career has been shaped by a passion for helping others understand complex topics and a desire to lead meaningful change within the payments industry. He explained, "I spent years helping drive the industry toward Same-Day ACH and later helped architect the RTP® Network. Both were long, challenging efforts to move an entire industry forward, and they taught me that real change in payments happens slowly, then all at once." Throughout his career, Peter has also earned several patents, allowing him to remain closely connected to both the strategic and technical sides of payments innovation.
For more than 20 years, he has been a sought-after industry speaker and educator, helping financial institutions understand why payments are a strategic function rather than simply a back-office operation. His passion for education continues to drive his work as he helps community financial institutions prepare for the future of payments.
When asked about joining the EPCOR Board of Directors, Peter shared, "EPCOR has built strong, lasting trust with its financial institution and technology members. They rely on EPCOR for practical, straightforward expertise on ACH, check, card and risk. I've spoken at EPCOR Payments Conference a number of times and have seen that member relationship firsthand." Looking ahead, Peter hopes to help EPCOR guide its members through the rapid evolution of the payments industry. "Instant payments, stablecoin, tokenized deposits and technologies that haven't even been named yet are reshaping how money moves. My hope is to help EPCOR lead its members into that next generation of payments, banking and technology, building the understanding and capabilities they'll need for what's coming next."
Professionally, Peter is excited about the rapid pace of innovation transforming the payments industry and the opportunity it creates for financial institutions of all sizes. He is especially passionate about ensuring community financial institutions have a voice as new technologies emerge, while continuing to focus on fraud prevention, identity and secure movement of money. He also enjoys teaching and finds it rewarding to help financial industry professionals recognize the strategic importance of payments.
On a personal note, Peter enjoys attending live music events and festivals, traveling both domestically and internationally and often combines his love of travel with his passion for music.
Welcome to the EPCOR Board, Peter!
