Part of a driver’s pre-race routine includes driver meetings, sponsor photo-ops, press appearances and endurance training. EPCOR’s education team has been busy with its own pre-Payment Systems Update (PSU) routine.
Attendees of this ever-popular event may believe the team’s prep is nothing more than pulling a few slides together and presenting the class. However, it’s nowhere near as simple as that!

Our preparations began last September in the “offseason” with EPCOR members in mind. We solicited ideas from our expert staff and member committees and scoured the latest updates to payment system rules and regulations. Gaining a feel for what members need to know or be prepared for in 2023 and beyond related to payment system rules, regulations, faster payments and fraud revved our engines. So many great ideas!
From there, another pre-PSU meeting in October to brainstorm and further define each section of the program. Once the track (outline) was laid out, it was time to begin developing content and working closely with our instructional designer. The program needs to meet the established learning objectives and include some fun (interaction) along the way. This process can take several laps (weeks).
In early December, we had our first practice run and got feedback from the team. Then we began fine-tuning the program. Another practice lap in early January, more fine tuning and then we suited up for a final practice lap in early February.
With last minute minor adjustments done, it’s now time to see if our months of preparation for the big race will pay off. We believe they will and are ready to “start our engines!” on February 23rd with the first of 20+ in-person events. And of course, the race isn’t over till the checkered flag comes out on March 29-30 with the virtual edition of Payment Systems Update.
So, hop in the driver’s seat and join us at a “track” near you or online. Make payments compliance a priority and prepare for the payment system changes coming in 2023!
