Although summer is still with us, the crisp arrival of fall is just around the corner. With it comes our annual EPCOR Payments Conference – Fall 2025, which will be held October 6-8 in Overland Park, KS!
This year’s lineup features exciting new speakers alongside beloved favorites, ready to deliver information and expertise you can utilize immediately.
I recently attended a national meetings industry conference in St. Louis and was reminded just how exciting AND nerve-racking it can be to attend a large event, especially when going by yourself. I didn’t know a single person when I arrived, but by the end, I had gathered valuable ideas, gained actionable insights and connected with some fascinating people. I’m so glad I took the leap and went!
The EPCOR team strives to make conference attendees feel welcome and comfortable, but we know that attending any conference can feel overwhelming. However, with the right approach, it can be a valuable and even enjoyable experience that you won’t regret. Here are some practical tips to help you manage your energy, make meaningful connections and get the most out of your time at our conference:
Before the Conference
- Set Clear Goals: Clarify your goals for the conference — whether it’s attending specific sessions, connecting with key people or walking away with new knowledge you can apply. Having a purpose gives you focus and helps reduce the pressure of meeting and networking with new people.
- Reach Out in Advance: If you want to connect with specific people, consider sending an email or LinkedIn message beforehand to arrange a casual meetup. You can also mark yourself as “attending” on our LinkedIn event page to start building connections early. Our conference app will allow you to connect directly with other attendees, before and after the event.
During the Conference
- Start Small: Ease into the conference experience with an optional preconference workshop on Monday morning, especially if you prefer a quieter start or consider yourself more introverted. New this year, we are offering two workshops from 9 AM to noon, so be sure to check them out at conference.epcor.org!
- Use One-on-One Time: If networking feels intimidating, try sitting next to someone who is alone and strike up a low-pressure conversation. It helps to have a few conversation starters ready, such as:
- “What brought you to this conference?” or
- “What session have you enjoyed the most so far?”
- Leverage Tech and Tools: Use our conference app or social media hashtags (#EPCORpaymentspalooza and #EPCORpaymentsconference) to engage digitally — it’s a great way to stay involved with less immediate social pressure.
- Self-Care: Give yourself permission to step away when needed. Use hotel lounges or outdoor seating areas to recharge.
After the Conference
- Follow Up: Send brief messages to anyone you connect with, such as a thank-you, a LinkedIn invite or a follow-up on a session you attended together.
- Give Yourself Recovery Time: Plan a quiet evening or take a day off after the conference, if possible. You’ve earned it!
