Preparing for the Worst, While Hoping for the Best

I am always seeking new and interesting sessions to offer to our members at our annual EPCOR Payments Conferences. The majority of these sessions pertain to the business of payments in one form or another and that is appropriate, given that our conferences are named EPCOR Payments Conferences.

Occasionally, however,  a session topic is suggested that falls outside of the payments arena, but is found to be so compelling and important, we decide to offer it.

Active Shooter: Awareness & Incident Response to Workplace Violence is just such a topic that will be offered at EPCOR Payments Conference-Spring & Fall 2016.

While none of us ever expects to be involved in a situation like this, the fact is that it happens-----and seems to be happening more frequently as evidenced by San Bernadino and Paris.

According to The Department of Homeland Security:

"An Active Shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use firearms(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly. Typically, the immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to stop the shooting and mitigate harm to victims."

This May and October, find out what YOU can do in the event of a workplace violence incident from security expert, Michael Hague with Security Solutions & Training LLC.

Learn ways to help prevent workplace violence, how best to respond to an active shooter and also how you can continue business as usual--even if your company suffers losses.

While you won't learn anything new about payments at this particular session, you WILL walk away with information that just might save a life should you ever be involved in a workplace violence incident.

This is such a hot-topic nationwide - great addition to the conference lineup. Thanks for being proactive in seeking relevant non-payment topics to round out our conference experience.
